The Far North Chapter...small steps, giant strides
On Friday 1st March 2013, the Far North Chapter bureau marked another giant stride in its on-going expansion programme with the creation of another branch in Kaele, head-quarters of the historic Mayo Kani Division of the Far North Region of Cameroon. Holding in the conference hall of Lycée Classique Kaele under the auspices of the divisional delegations of Secondary and Basic education in Mayo-Kani, both represented at the opening ceremony, CAMELTA members in this new branch had the opportunity to share experiences and expertise with colleagues from different parts of the region.
The branch seminar and launch event, attended by 74 English language and literature teachers of the Mayo-Kani Division explored amongst other things, ideas, practices and reflections on the New Vision of Evaluation in the Competence-Based Approach as well as on the Teaching of Reading. This was followed by the election of the first ever Mayo-Kani branch committee, in a democratic process overseen by the Far-North regional chapter Bureau.
The next steps will be leading the regional chapter bureau to Mayo-Sava division on Friday 15 March 2013. Would this be another giant stride?
